Apparently, I'm a geek.

I just watched the movie The Princess Diaries the other day. No, silly! That's not why I am a geek! (Although, that doesn't actually help.) No...I came to the realization during that film that I am a GEEK.

For anyone who has not seen this movie, it's about a high school girl who finds out she is a princess. Whatever. The point is, she starts out the movie as a LOSER. How do they portray her geekiness? By giving her bushy hair and glasses. This is not the first film to have ever done this. Whenever there is a movie about a girl who is a geek, who later gets a makeover, she starts out with bushy hair and glasses. And guess what?

I HAVE BUSHY HAIR AND GLASSES.

This, of course, does wonders for my self-esteem. Essentially, Hollywood is saying to me, "OMFG, Amanda, you have bushy hair and glasses, therefore you are a nerd. No, wait, you're more than a nerd. You're, like, nerd SQUARED. Seriously, if you want to be cool and popular and drop-dead gorgeous, buy a hair straightener and get contacts or lazer eye surgery. Seriously." How nice.

You see...this girl in the movie (her name's Mia), was just like me in high school. Awkward, shy and invisible, with frizzy hair and glasses. She was not popular...had few friends...and was an overall NERD. Of course, then she finds out she's a princess, gets a makeover, and suddenly she's no longer a geek. OMG. Why didn't I ever find out I was a fucking princess in high school? Why didn't I get a makeover? I would looooooove to have super-straight, shiny, silky hair, and have 20/20 vision without stupid fucking geeky glasses (there's no way I could wear contacts, trust me. I have this eye phobia thingy). But guess what? My hair will never look that good (unless I had some Hollywood hair dresser fixing my hair for me every day), and I will probably always wear glasses. Does this mean I will always be a geek? That is so depressing!

I want to be a princess. Seriously.

Actually, not really.
