Holy dhjdfnskndfjd!
So last night was the Sarah McLachlan concert. It was awesome, yo. And get this - before they were even letting people in to sit down, by boyfriend and I went inside the Civic Center to stand around, instead of waiting around outside, because it was windy and kind of cool. So immediately upon arriving inside, Nate decided he had to go to the bathroom, and tried to get me to go too. But I declined, because...well...the need to pee just wasn't there. SO...there I was...standing there all by my lonesome...waiting for my boyfriend to return from the urinals when all of a sudden...I turn around, and there is this woman walking in the direction toward me, holding a little girl. I catch the woman's eye and smile, like I would at any old stranger, and then as she passes right by me I realize...holy fuck, that was Sarah McLachlan! She walked right by me! She looked right at me! And smiled! Oh my holy effing God, that was so amazingly cool. The little girl in her arms was her 3-year-old daughter. So cute!
Okay...what else? Well...the opening band was a band called The Perishers. I'd never heard of them before. They're from Sweden (or "The Sweden" as the lead singer put it), and their CD was only released in the States a few weeks ago. Anyway, they played for a half an hour, and said they would be signing their CDs and giving out free hugs after their show was over. Their music was okay, and I just can NOT pass up autographs from anyone, so Nate so kindly escorted me to Section X where they were signing. Holy Moses, there was a long line. By the time we were halfway to the signing table, Sarah had already come on and started playing. Grr...I was kind of upset about that. But oh well. I got to meet the members of The Perishers, all really nice guys it seems. The drummer signed my CD "To Amanda and Nate, Love T.P.", and the rest of the band signed too. I got to shake all of their hands, but I did not take the free hug. One reason was because my boyfriend was standing right there. Another reason was that I felt bad for the lead singer, who for nearly every girl had to keep standing up to hug, then sit back down, then stand back up to hug...etc. Whatever.
So the show was absolutely fabulous. I think this was my favorite concert so far. Sarah has the most beautiful singing voice, and her live performance is even better than her CDs, in my opinion. Plus, her show had lots of pretty visuals, which was nice. And she seems like a very nice person.
But...I've only had maybe 5 hours of sleep, and I have to go to work in about 40 minutes. Argh. Oh well. I figured I better write about the concert right off, before I became lazy and didn't write about it at all, like the Green Day concert.
